honestly i’m so put off by my viewing experience that even the fun moments i did experience feel lackluster and forgettable. the og is an all-time fav and i love all the performers involved so it’s a little disappointing but honestly it doesn’t take away from the magic of the first one. plot felt meh esp when you take pains to set up a discerning girl who is established to be that perceptive of dudes being wishy washy and in that sense i feel like men just don’t understand how non-men have a six sense about people—esp men and boys—being wishy washy. and that is exactly why the much older man who low key kind of looked like my dad that came way late to the screening and was having a time with his plastic bag full of snacks struck up a conversation at me while the credits were rolling (genuinely didn’t realize he was talking to me until i glanced to my left and saw him staring at me), point out i was alone, told me how the favorite movie he watched recently was reagan and he watched it 4x, and after i got up to leave and he was like nice to meet you and i was like yes bye he calls after me “hey are you single?” i felt extra icky. like sir it is 12:30am on a wednesday night what are you doing? please let the solo woman leave the theater in peace. i don’t think you learned the lesson from this movie we just watched? even if i wasn’t gay (i am) and was interested (i’m not) literally no one in their right mind would be into a stranger being like “oh you’re by yourself trying to leave btw are you single?” at this hour. huh??????????? couldn’t have left that theater fast enough. the only thing i said to this man was “it was a fun one” when he asked me if i liked the movie. honestly don’t think i’ll be going to any late screenings alone for a while tbh. but then again i also had a weird encounter when i went to see saltburn at 10am on a weekday too so it’s not like the time of day seems to matter but at least i don’t feel as vulnerable(?) than in the night. my heart was beating really fast. anyway, most of this has nothing to do with the movie. i will try to go see it with friends again at some point soon to give this a proper review ‘cause i’m really not in the headspace to do that now. might delete this later but just needed to get this out.
