The second instalment of the Cornetto Trilogy, Hot Fuzz, is an absolutely hilarious comedy-action film.
It's about the best policeman in London being sent to join an incompetent police squad based in a village in the English countryside. But thing's start to look suspicious as "accidental" deaths start appearing all over the village.
The writing is brilliant, with each line is as funny as the last. It is filled to the brim with frequent references to pop culture - more specifically cliché action films like Point Break. The plot succeeds in being an entertaining whodunit that keeps you guessing all the time, and the dialogue is witty and clever, never failing to amuse.
The special effects were quite impressive, with corpses seeming very realistic. Some of the editing threw me off a bit as transitions sometimes seemed a bit all over the place - often during the action scenes, but it wasn't anything dreadfully bad.
There are some great comedy performances from the likes of Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, both executing their roles nicely. They both have chemistry as a comedy duo, previously shown in the other Cornetto Trilogy films, that make the characters relationships seem real and genuine, whilst also being side-splittingly hilarious.
Other notable performances are by Jim Broadbent, Olivia Colman and Timothy Dalton who all added their own flare to each of their characters that felt fun to watch.
Hot Fuzz is a classic comedy film for me and has always managed to make me laugh. Edgar Wright did a great job directing this movie, and although it can be gruesome in places I believe it's a film anyone can enjoy.
