John Krasinski's directoral debut, A Quiet Place, is a thrilling film that is a great choice if you want a good horror film to watch.
It takes place in a post-apocalyptic America, where people cannot make a sound because indestructible monsters will find and kill them.
It's a really original concept that is executed greatly. The sign language is a unique twist on the dialogue, I loved it.
The horror moments got me on the edge of my seat and there never was a wasted scene. It was suspenseful throughout and I was very engaged with the movie at all times. There were certain scenes that made me incredibly anxious, such as the nail in the foot, and others made me feel emotional, like Lee Abbot's (John Krasinski) relationship with his daughter. It had all the elements that a horror film should have, making it really easy to connect with the characters and interesting to view their well-written relationships, something I hope it maintains in the sequel.
The acting is decent, but because they never really speak in the film it all relies on subtle acting which some cast members are better at than others. All the cast brought the characters to life in the end product and everything seemed real enough.
It's got a great ending, one that perfectly sets up the want for a sequel which I hope to get round to watching soon.
