“We gratefully acknowledge the city of Tokyo, for their help in obtaining Godzilla for this film.”

Such a CLASSIC independently-made animated short film, from 1969, under 2 minutes-long. Seen it a few times before, in animation-compilations and the like.

This fella Marv Newland had a great sense-of-humor obviously. Spends the majority of the movie’s running-time on ridiculous credits (all his own name) - “choreography by Marv Newland” “Bambi’s wardrobe by Marv Newland” - and then after “produced by Marv Newland”,…

Leaves rustling in the tree above you. Parted clouds in the sky during cozy weather. Birds are heard, yet they give us space. There is peace even though we still occupy a world that isn't entirely peaceful. Three minutes. That's all we get here, so let's treasure those three minutes. I imagine Mr. Davies did, and perhaps so many more, I hope.

Terence Davies passed away at age 77 on October 7th. His name…

Really great, physically kinetic short. It may be yet another art film about a woman’s body, yet it treats the subject matter more as a form than a function. Utilizing some great editing and synchronized dances to the score, it turns the human body into a work of art more appreciated in concept than execution.

"People are animals. Seriously, they are like animals."

This is honestly amazing? A legitimately perfect blend of every 1960s Pop Art kitsch with the absurd character designs and psychedelic lucidness of Yellow Submarine to tell the tale of an ideologically fascist sad sap janitor pitfalling toward the blackpill all because the tenants of his building party at night and sleep during the day.

There's a ton of very beautiful, and at times very blunt, visuals at play here to get…

    WOW, JUST FUCKING WOW.

An early masterpiece by the master Donn Alan Pennebaker.

The cinematography, the editing, the jazz music by Duke fucking Ellington, the kaleidoscope sequence at the end, EVERYTHING IS JUST FUCKING GREAT.

    WHAT AN SPECTACULAR JOY RIDE.
