why didn't they trust their audience more!? this is the third film in a trilogy with a huge amount of dedicated fans, this movie did not need to be so on the nose, beating you over the head with plot points. damn! i'm actually really disappointed.
wasted time on cameos and campy bits that probably should have been spent on character development. the most compelling moments of the film were between maxine and her friend who worked at the video store. biggest missed opportunity to develop the relationship with her dad because they wanted a twist killer. but i could have done with a more predictable "reveal," so that it felt like it had more meaning.
besides that, visually amazing, loved the setting and homage to 80s hollywood, lots to look at artistically. performances were good and campy and fun.
i had a good time, i just think the very literal approach with the end of the trilogy was a bad choice.
