With Fury Road it is forgivable that there is almost no plot, when there is an overload of spectacular action and bizarre characters, but it surely is the reason why I can never give this a full five stars. What also bugs me is the frame-rate thing. It completely took me out of the movie the first time watching at home on bluray. I thought I had a defective disc, or I had accidentally touched the fast-forward button. I turned it off 20 minutes in, to investigate on the internet, about this strange phenomenon. I did manage to find out, that it is all intentional. But it seems hardly anyone is distracted by it. Then I remembered that all Mad Max movies had scenes, where George Miller messed with the frame rate. It gives a certain speed-up effect, almost like in an old B&W slapstick movie.
A cool effect, when it is used like in the first two Mad Max films, but here in Fury Road it was overkill ! It was used in scenes where it doesn't fit at all, and simply looks off !
I have come to accept it, knowing it is a deliberate artistic choice, and not a fault with my player or disc, but I still think it is distracting, and unnecessary in a lot of scenes.
