Is this sympathy or just Schadenfreude? I couldn’t help but see my own aspirations on-screen. Anyone could dismiss Mark Borchardt for his naive ambition which borders on ignorance and his style which could simply be chalked up to ineptitude. Yet he realised his vision, however crude it may be. Maybe more importantly, by accident, Mark made a greater documentary than any film he could’ve helmed.  Life has a way of working out like that.
