Hey! That’s Me!
The opening track. Narrative structure is so romantic it’s hopeless. Stunning visuals. Tear-jerking songs. Emma and Ryan chemistry. Dialogue is so natural and pure this movie is a fucking greenhouse. The Best Musical because it fucking knows when the visuals and drama are more effective at telling the story than song and dance (and vice versa). The Colours. The direction. The visual storytelling and clues. How does Damien make foreshadowing feel so nostalgic and classic? A roller coaster of emotion. I feel everything but don’t know how to feel. I feel everything but it’s not too much, it’s not overwhelming, it’s comforting in a way. That’s fucking special. That’s what La La Land is to me.
