Chris Nolan loves to film Cillian Murphy's face and bone structure so much that he literally shoots that only in every way possible (Not to mention the IMAX cameras!) —
with colors and without colors;
at the time he's smoking and at the time he's speculating about the practical aspects of theories in science;
at the moment he's horrified and at the time he's relieved from a great burden;
in extreme close-up lit by the fire of tons of plutonium and while fading in foremost denial for not having many emotions left as his Oppenheimer glides away from his passion for physics and discovery after finding himself in a place of playing a crucial part of dirty power politics of system hierarchy.
It's a biopic which, I'll say, is less of a subjective take on someone's life but more of an ambiguous study of that person's mind who was well aware of his past and future but had no real power to control the chain reaction that he started on that very day while discussing the science of A-bomb with his team of some of the greatest minds!
There Oppenheimer's atomic odyssey, no doubt, has become as much as haunting as it sounds mesmerizing. And with the music/score that occasionally deafens our every sense, we're taken to the turbulent layers of this chaotic mind, disturbed by the forces of uncertainty where the certain-most conclusion is perhaps the inevitable destruction of mankind!!
Superb stuff...that too comes with a powerful fusion of history and human drama in scattered three-way reactions of different timelines! And definitely a better movie from Chris Nolan after TENET.
