A very flawed but daring film. So many ideas in this film work for me. I love the arc of Kylo, Rey, & Luke. I thought Luke especially was so well done. Lots of similarities with episode v but I think it was intended for story and thematic purposes. Beautiful film visually, probably 2nd best looking movie in the series after Rogue One. Now even though I really like a lot of the film, it definitely has flaws. The casino planet while I do like some of the visuals (especially that intro zoom in shot, very fun), it is such a pace killer for me and just doesn't feel needed. Also the Leia in space scene looks really goofy, like comedically hilarious visuals. Finn and Poe are dead weight which just hurts me on the inside. They should have been so much more in this. Lastly, the humor. Surprisingly a lot of it works for me, I thought the Luke & Rey stuff was really funny. This doesn't have the same issue I had with Force Awakens where the humor outstays its welcome in the 3rd act. Some jokes though don't work, mainly the casino planet humor scenes. If that few scenes was cut out this would be a 4/5. Overall this is better than the 3 prequels to me but only a smidge better than episode 3.
Oh one last note, the visuals of Crait are some of my favorites in the series. I love the clash of colors and the finale with Luke is just magical.
