I'll start this review with a small positive. It's not even the worse scifi netflix film of 2024. So far for 2024 I think I can recall 5 or 6 films I would say this is better than.
Ok now with that out of the way, this is pretty bad. It's bad in the way you would expect from a bargain bin at Walmart. Like you expect it to be bad. Then you google the budget and see it's 100 million and gag a little. Where did the money go? The vfx department I would think but the cgi definitely isn't what you would expect from 100 million (the Creator had a budget of 80 million for perspective). Starship Troopers had a 100 million budget as well (uninflated) and I would argue looks better at times and that great film was released 27 years ago (we share a birth year 😀) it must be either money laundering or the cast got most of the budget. Besides that though it has what appears to be a interesting plot until Atlas gets separated from everyone else. At that point it is your standard human learns to trust mech suit story we see countless times. Hot take but I like mech suits that don't talk back. Matrix Revolutions while controversial had cool mech suits that felt like true extensions of the body. This film is something you just put on while doing something else (I was working) aka another weak 2024 netflix release
