Rob Zombie's movies have always had a place in my heart.
His movies are the complete opposite of the horror that gets put in theaters today.
So after seeing a teaser trailer for a new film he started a Kickstarter for, 31, I was wondering what the film was going to be about. Was it going to be a new Halloween movie? Perhaps another film to complete the House of 1,000 Corpses trilogy?
After hearing the idea, which sounds a lot like The Purge, but more interesting, I became so excited that I could hardly stand to wait.
When I say the wait was well worth it, the wait was well worth it.
This film was incredible. Dare I say this is his best film he's done to date.
Sure it's not as visually stunning as The Lords of Salem, and not as disturbing as House of 1,000 Corpses, but it's definitely one of the more disturbing films I've seen this decade, perhaps the MOST disturbing.
There's so much blood in this, I could hardly contain my satisfaction in watching all of these people get brutally murdered by these psychopathic maniacs.
I have a few problems with this movie, though.
The movie is typical Rob Zombie fare - a film set in the desert (much like The Devil's Rejects) and helpless characters that have no character development.
The only film he has with some kind of character development is The Lords of Salem.
Also, it takes about 45 minutes before one of the good guys so much as picks up a weapon let alone use one.
However, when they turn the tables, it gets good, and it gets gory.
Not only is this movie full of blood, it's full of fun and exciting scenes, which is something Hollywood has a hard time doing these days.
Sheri Moon Zombie shines as the main character yet again, and everyone in the cast plays their part very well.
I loved every second of this movie, but I found some parts to be kind of dragging and slow.
