“'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no, oh”
35+ Years is a very long time in between Sequels, and I’m happy to say Tim Burton’s follow up perfectly captures the essence of his Original, but at the same time brings enough new ideas to table that it’s worthwhile addition.
Pros: Of the returning Cast, both Keaton and Ryder didn’t miss a step in this and their chemistry reminded me more of their Cartoon Counterparts which I loved as a Kid, and regard on equal footing as the Movie. But it’s Catherine O'Hara reprising her role as “Delia Deetz” that steals the Show! Every scene and line from Her cracked me up! The movie wouldn’t have worked as well as it did without Her performance!
I really dug the storyline between Astrid Deetz (Jenna Ortega) and Jeremy (Arthur Conti), and wish the plot focused more around that twist.
The time spent in and around Winter River, beautiful scenery and it was a trip being taken back to the Maitland residence once again.
Con’s: (SPOILERS) Wasn’t feeling Justin Theroux as “Rory” or Monica Bellucci as “Delores LaVerge” (Beetlejuice‘s former Flame) what so ever, anytime they were around I was less than thrilled. Nothing against either of them personally but I’m surprised that the Sand-worm didn’t spit them out! (Spoilers)
