I remember seeing the trailers for this before Beetlejuice and thinking it looked really dumb. I almost didn't believe it was a real movie. Also can you imagine going to see this in theatres, just for it to be available for free on Prime like weeks later?
I wanted a movie to watch with my clients and felt like this was a good option. I don't have strong opinions on it either way.
Alright I'll say there are things in this movie that I like. I think Chris Evans is pretty good and him and the Rock have some fun interactions. I think the polar bear guy was fun. I like the whole like toy's becoming real thing was a cool idea that I wish they did more. I think the Krampus scene was pretty good.
Ummm but this movie is dumb and has a lot of cringe in it. The Rock like doing a half-ant man thing and turning into a little person during fights is really weird and doesn't look good. JK Simmons is a fun choice for Santa... but making Santa ripped is WEIRD. Just have him be normal and chubby but like magical. Also any attempts at character stuff in this movie feels so weird and out of place. Lastly... I wonder who this is really for. At times it feels like a Marvel-esque movie made for little kids about Santa being real and not getting on the Naughty list and have silly fights. But then they swear and there are scary demon monsters and stuff. It's like... why make a Santa Claus movie that you can't really show to little kids, especially when the message is more aimed towards kids.
I don't know. I don't have strong feelings about this one either way. It's less bad than I expected but I wouldn't go so far to say that it's good.
