Glorious special effects, but the story is as cheesy as the original although the pacing is bit better. Obviously the advertisement for the U.S. Navy is as ever-present in this movie as it was in the original, but I find that this movie has a more structured plot with a specific end goal so we have more of a stronger expectation that pays off well. Still, it's a nostalgia-bait sentimental action-flick that doesn't really have much to say. It's pure entertainment cinema at its most glorious and at its most predictable.
