A visual spectacle and probably the most action-packed film in the franchise. While I do believe they definitely took a step down narratively in favor of having a more action-packed sequel I personally find it a nice breath of fresh air. It still has some of the sociopolitical commentary the others have but definitely not on their level. It does truly feel fresh for a franchise film in the age of fan service to be able to let go of the past.
Visually this is the franchise's best. 300 years after Caesar and the cities have become literal concrete jungles, the world has become unrecognizable and I love how green the environment looks because i'm an absolute sucker for the overgrown cities. The motion capture on the apes is at an all-time best, they are more expressive than ever without sacrificing the realism and they keep improving on the already great CGI of the previous films.
Proximus is a really great villain. Even though he doesn't clear the greatness of Koba I think the way Proximus twists Caesar's beliefs to manipulate his folk into following him is really well done and Kevin Durand plays him exceptionally well. His very ferocious voice works perfectly for the character. I also really like Noa and it didn't take long for me to get attached to the new protagonist and Owen Teague really helps his likeability. I also thought Raka was a great addition to the franchise. I couldn't really bring myself to care much for Mae though.
