Halloween Ends

Halloween Ends

Michael fed a mob their spleens, Karen lay dying, and Laurie has risen from her hospital bed determined to end her brother's terror. A fever pitch ending Halloween Kills providing opportunity for this finale to sustain the chaos. Maybe have the entirety of Illinois on alert, not just a town where the leading cause of death is kitchen knife, as Myers simply vanishes...again. Throw in Tom Atkins as "Challis", a once Loomis protégé, making Season of the Witch fans orgasm until unable to walk.

Nah, director David Gordon Green takes note from Phantasm: Ravager. Let a passing notion dominate until the picture hardly resembles what fans have known. That's not clever, especially when the conclusion of Michael and Laurie writes itself. No one asked for a prequel to Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer inside of Halloween. Such a leap isn't even fitting for the medium; save that for a novella or limited comic series.

Allow Grandma Strode, apparently oblivious to her daughter's bludgeoning four years prior, room to somehow stop an emotionless bulk impervious to blades and bullets. If really just an "old guy in a mask", why not have a Myers conscious of his own mortality? Will he complete his life's calling of stopping his sister's heart before "death"? Certainly more intriguing than a new character driven to terrible acts by the stain of his past.

At one point, it's asked whether society or inborn impulse makes monsters, neither apply to Michael. At least in original form, he's the embodiment of cosmic indifference. Corey is a mugshot seen on the news every day. That might seem scarier, but the former gets at the question of evil. There's not always an answer that can be expressed rationally why bad things happen. Like when a boy stabbed his sister to death on Halloween night in 1963. Watched via Peacock.
