Melting into my seat as I reveal this is my first Michel Gondry. I'm shocked at how well he pulls off the clashing absurdist, dramatic and humorous tones so marvellously. In the hands of any other filmmaker - looking down the barrel at you, Taika Waititi, this material would be too whimsical, too silly - in Gondry's hands it works.
Great ensemble, staggering final shot !!
