Donna Reed smashing the 78 to bits. Shouting "he's making violent love to me, mother!" And, at the end, the rough swipe of her arm, sweeping the contents of the table to the floor before she dumps out the basket full money. And of course throwing her rock through the glass at the old Granville house. It's easy to think of Reed as some icon of domesticity; but I love how she and Capra created in Mary Hatch a character as full of life as her future husband.
