I’m sort of nervous for Scream 5 coming up, mainly because Wes isn’t at the helm. But looking back, Scream 4 came out over a decade after the end of a trilogy. This movie didn’t really have any right to be good either.
But it’s an absolute blast that was worthy to be made.
Halfway through rewatching this it hit me that no other horror franchise has given this amount of consistent care and treatment to its lead character. Think about all the other big horror franchises. None of them keep their protagonist and keep their story consistently good. The new cast is great and almost just as fun as the characters we love.
Scream 4 has a perfect amount of commentary on social media and teenagers today. It doesn’t bombard you with it’s commentary but still remains relevant. There’s a line said about how you hardly have to achieve anything to get famous these days. I bet you could guess the particular platform that came straight to my mind when I heard that. In the end, Scream 4 is just a great B horror movie loaded with thrills.
The Scream franchise played a big part in the horror genre becoming such comfort food for me. Like I even watched 2 seasons of the TV series which is seriously average lol.
