Yes, I have heard all of the hype surrounding the new horror film ‘Longlegs’ and I can now confirm that it is 100% warranted. The first 2 minutes is one of the most frightening scenes I’ve ever seen. The feeling you get in your stomach is one of nightmares. The film follows that up with one of the most gruesome scenes I’ve seen in awhile. Oz Perkins makes it a note to grab the audiences attention from the drop and to hold it throughout as you attempt to pull your jaw back up off the floor.
Scene to scene has you on edge and wondering what they have in store for you next. The score is incredible and holds an eerie tone to make every action feel amplified to maximum capability. Nicolas Cage is just incredible. Absolutely horrifying and unrecognizable in the role. Malika Monroe, Blair Underwood, and Alicia Witt follow with equally great performances and the twist at the end just is the icing on top.
Compelling storytelling and a nice structure makes this easily the best horror film of 2024 and I believe will solidify it as a timeless classic!
Everyone needs to experience this one at least once! This is this years ‘Saltburn.’ Horrifying, jaw-dropping, and weird, I’m beginning to find a love for these types of films. (5/5)
