A decent navy cadet training school depiction, wrapped up in a downtrodden blue collar love story.
This film feels influential on the later likes of Top Gun and even Full Metal Jacket. Inspiring, and full of truthful moments. Richard Gere is smoking, and Debra Winger has rarely been better, but the real star of the show is the Oscar winning performance by Louis Gossett Jnr.
A solid crowd pleaser thanks to a worthy ensemble.
