Scream 4 is brutal. The deaths and gore are ramped to 11. It is interesting to think a Scream movie was influenced by Saw, the evolution of a slasher. The circle of life or the pool of intestines, is all the same.
The climatic scenes in Scream had Halloween playing in the background. Before you know it, Scream mimics Halloween while doing its own thing. In Scream 4, that same idea is applied but with Stab which is the opening scene of Scream re-shot. Pretentious, yes. Badass, also yes.
