On her 50th birthday, aerobics star Elisabeth Sparkle is let go by her boss and ends up at a lab where a mysterious substance promises to turn her into a younger, upgraded version of herself, sparking unexpected—and potentially dangerous—changes. Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley are outstanding, fully committing to the intense and bizarre transformation process. I appreciated how the rules of the substance were clearly laid out, with no exceptions, and there are real consequences when those rules aren’t followed. The visuals and music are vibrant, and the transformation scenes are visceral and gory, done in a truly gnarly way. That said, by the end, the film does feel like it goes on a bit longer than needed, even though it remains a captivating ride. At its heart, this body horror explores aging, self-worth, identity conflict, and the cost of chasing perfection. It pulls you in and ends up being a bloody blast—quite literally.
