The Dreamworks comeback is real! This was soooo good. I expected this to be decently solid, judging from the trailer I knew going in that the animation is drop dead gorgeous and it was. Beautiful animation, visuals, design, with so much detail and depth in every frame they really blew it outta the park with that. What surprised me the most was how emotional and heartfelt the story was. The three main characters arc’s were done wonderfully and felt heartwarming and satisfying in the end. Even the side characters were too! To add to that this is a hilarious movie laugh per minute. It does find a good balance between being serious and comical which is important. Lastly the final cherry on top of all this is the amazing score that fills this with heart and soul this wouldn’t have worked as much without it. Peak cinema I loved this. Easily now the best contender for best animated feature I couldn’t imagine anything rn from the top of my head that can top this so well deserved. As Guillermo Del Toro said it best: “Animation is cinema. Animation is not a genre for kids, it's a medium." this continues to prove that and hopefully next year at the awards there won’t be a shitty animation is for kids “joke”
