A list of every public domain and open source film (in the US) by average rating (except for Capybara Walking (when on here) because it's epic and Steamboat Willie to emphasize that Mickey Mouse is finally ours). The rule in America goes after 95 years a copyrighted work will enter public domain so I included every film from up to 95 years ago. R.I.P. Capybara Walking (1887 - 4/24/2023): The film that once topped this list with an astounding 4.5 rating. On 4/24/2023 TMDB removed a majority Eadweard Muybridge's works including his magnum opus. Occasionally true Capyheads will revive the film's page but it does not last long. Good bye Capybara, gone but not forgotten.
Shoutout to Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey for starting my interest with the public domain. Without it this list wouldn’t exist. It maybe terrible but it has a right to exist thanks to the public domain.
