"Raymond Shaw is the bravest, kindest, warmest, most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life"

Set at the height of McCarthyism & Cold War paranoia & made during the rise of conspiracy theories, Frankenheimer adapts a top-tier political & psychological thriller. Government subversion, brain-washing, & a plot to manipulate the masses make for a pretty compelling watch. The 2nd half in particular had several effective & tense scenes, though at times it was a tad more on the nose than I remember.
