two hours of nonstop action, suspense and entertainment that fly by in what feels like five minutes. this is a film that’s very rooted in its influences, the its fleeting glimpses of tarantino/altman are almost impossible to miss (still very tasteful, though). the choreography and blocking really stood out to me, which is probably the highest compliment i could give to a modern crime drama/comedy. that plus great chemistry throughout makes the nice guys a thoroughly fun watch. i think ryan gosling squealing is my new favorite film genre.
