Spooktober 2024 Ranked < Go like it.
Welp, looks like one of my alter egos will be coming out: Backlog Destroyer. Since this month I will come back to hardcore destroying films. I was going to have a break the rest of this year as I reached my goals but.......... It's Spooktober and I want to see how many horror films I can watch this month. Last year I didn't do a list but my PR was: 75 horror films in October 2023, so I will beat that EASILY since I am even more insane lol. I will just take November and December off I guess.
First off: I have changed my whole layout: Image. the fav films are the top 4 horrors of this year (I put terrifier 3 there cause I know it'll be in 2nd place) and also changed my profile picture to Mamá Roxy, it's her from last years "Halloween Havoc" as Freddy Krueger. Kept switching from Jenna or Roxy but for now I will stay with Roxy. So hard to decide between theses 2 bruh, my all time fav Boricua's🇵🇷. Still have the cleanest profile on Letterboxd even with changed layout.😋
It's that time again! Thought I would go see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice to start off "Spooktober", Yes this is my 6th time rewatching it, yes I enjoyed it so much even though I have seen it so many times and finally YES, I AM VERY ADDICTED TO ASTRID DEETZ. I feel like Connie, Astrid, Sophia Falcone and Sienna Shaw will most likely be my top 4 characters of this year and most edited. Ready obsessed edited over Connie and Sophia so far, can't with Astrid yet since this film ain't in HD and Terrifier 3 I see next week and that won't be out in HD until few months also.
I've legit made 5 reviews of this film with massive essays so I feel like I have nothing else to say that I haven't said before. Sure this film lacks in pacing issues, story problems with introducing so many characters at once, instead of focusing on Delores and beetlejuice then making Astrid, Lydia and Jeremy as the side plot. It would of been way cleaner! Still with theses problems I enjoy this film so much and maybe Astrid/Jenna maybe the reason for this but either way this film is dope! I guess this is my Deadpool & Wolverine LOL.
Yeah, yeah, I said this so many times in each review but I will keep saying it. Jenna Ortega fits Astrid so damn well and she brings light to the character that I couldn't imagine any other actress doing (JENNA IS OVERRATED!) Sit the fuck down you stupid fuck. Astrid is a dope character and how she written is so cool. Not only is she hurting, going through trauma and grieving the loss of her father, she knows how to take care of herself and she is strong. Not to mention she has brains and could see through Rory's bullshit and she was very close to her father (Which IS THE BEST THING FOR A WOMAN!) You can also tell that she is Lydia's daughter since she was acting just how Lydia was acting in Beetlejuice (1988). Astrid development throughout the whole film was engaging and I loved how towards the end her and her mother (Lydia) started to gain a strong bond back! It's actually makes me so happy that this film left 2024 a good year for Mama Ortega since she had a horrible start of the year with "Millers Girl" The character "Cairo Sweet" is a cool character but the film itself is just trash! That's a topic for when I rewatch that film anyways!
I want to say each rewatch, the more "Rory" get's on MY DAMN NERVES! If he tried to marry my mother in that way, BOY I WOULD GO UP TO HIM AND KNOCK THAT FEMININE LOOKING BUN OFF HIS HEAD AND HIS FACE IN THE GROUND! Get the hell out of here you stupid fuck. Like all the red flags ARE LEGIT THERE! You could clearly see he was using Lydia, her family and abusing women for more $. Stupid little shit needs my fist across his feminine looking face and the way he acts is pure laughable. One character that really pissed me off to be honest.
Lydia will always be the OG goth girl though and the main IT GIRL of the Beetlejuice franchise, no doubt it that! Wish Bob had a better direction in this film alongside Delores having an actual plot that was the main story without so many side plots and less characters being introduced so Burton could focus on the main plot (Juice and Delores) and then the side plot (Astrid, Lydia and Jeremy) would of been way cleaner. Still with theses problems I don't have an issue with the film and am still very engaged with rewatch!
