Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer

I sat throughout the credits ... thinking, fading. When people began to leave, I thought I'm gonna stay a while for whatever reason. Be it out of respect to everyone involved in making this project, or to continue admiring a piece of history in a form which exquisitely perfect. Processing the last scene that pretty much still haunts me. Until they turned off the projector and the staff started cleaning up the seats, I'm still thinking ... fading.

Oppenheimer (2023) has numerous spark that consistently lead us in its three hour runtime. I keep finding myself complimenting the script; the writing; the very backbone of a movie. This one has impeccable writing. You can almost feel the passion poured wholeheartedly into the dialogues that tell the story. Every sequence, every moment, crafted in the way that lead us to witness the world (Nolan) built. It didn't feel too long nor too rushed, as it has been argued that the last hour of Oppenheimer (2023) is unnecessarily boring. I preemptively disagree.

The cast also play crucial part in building said world. Cillian Murphy flawlessly lived a life of J. J. Oppenheimer. He showed us pieces of him that no other could see, he show us disturbance as one of the cost of his creation. The noises. The wound. The burnt. The light. The guilty that haunts him even before he was becoming a creator. He showed us the one who stole fire from Gods and gave it to men, the weapon to destroy themselves. The men thanking him but the Gods imprisoned him, torturing him for eternity. Cillian Murphy lived a life of American Prometheus himself. As for others, it would take hours and long paragraphs to explain how perfectly fit the rest of the cast is. Emily Blunt consuming her part without leaving any crumbles. The pretty much unstable wife, Kitty Oppenheimer, and the strength she held withing their marriage. She was far from perfect, fractured, stubborn, but so was he. Oppenheimer was always trying to stay true to his words, even when some of his principal changed due to the shift of world around him, and so was she. As for Robert Downey Jr., the man exceedingly prove his versatility of being an actor. This might be his best work as an actor, Lewis Strauss brought to us as a politician at its most. Many other familiar faces-- Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Matt Damon, and many more! Everyone did the job justice dare I say.

Production part is also one of Nolan's most highlighted quality. I think it proves that people love his works so much they actually paying attention to every part that built his projects, or maybe he did his job too well people keep noticing it. The scoring was hypnotizing, if i were to underplay how great it was. Ludwig Göransson did Tenet (2020) justice and he is here to bring one too. It's a magnificent combination, especially the sequences which combine such scoring with shown vfx. Or the others was the scoring and Cillian Murphy himself. Never failed. Never just fine. Nolan wants us to feel the horror, and I'm afraid he successfully did. And again, his decision to not use CGI and fully using practical and visual effect is as wise as it can get. One of the aspect that brought us to not only witness but also experience the world he built. Same goes as cinematography. I'm sure those who familiar with his works understand by default the beauty of landscapes that he shows.

When maybe some people find it difficult to understand the technical; quantum physicist; mathematics language that portrayed according to the actual event in this movie, I believe (Nolan) actually simplify them well. The vfx helps, of course.

In the end, before I even got up from my seat, I decided to once again revisit Oppenheimer (2023) in theater in the near future. Probably next week.
