Murphy absolutely Cills it!
The one issue that we usually associate with Nolan, creeps in here as well. That's the issue of writing underwhelming female characters, but barring that, there's no doubt that this film is a monumental achievement in filmmaking. It's edited in a frantic way, which may or may not work for some, but that last hour was just insane!!
Strongly feel like Cillian Murphy will pull off an Oscar with this one, and deservingly so. There's not a single scene in here where he hasn't absolutely hit it out of the park! Same goes for Robert Downey Jr.,who gives a solid supporting performance.
The non-linear approach and switches between color and B&W scenes were an amazing choice! The color ones were subjective, and the B&W ones were objective. The Color was all from Cillian's POV, and the gorgeous Black & White sequences were from a different character's POV, which I felt was a great stylistic and narrative choice. Also, when the movie starts I'm pretty sure I audibly gasped when I saw the first 70mm grains on the beautiful screen.
Thanks to the insane sound design, I'm pretty sure the couple next to me dropped their freaking popcorn and drinks twice! Also, grateful that I was able to hear the dialogues clearly this time!
