One of those films which are difficult to review without just gushing unequivocally. The lush, innovative cel-shaded animation is supported by a characteristically brilliant script from Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman that feels in tune with their usual comedic sensibilities, even as they double down on the emotional beats. The film's greatest success is that it manages to cut through the wave of unending reboots and remakes and preboots with a sharp, self-aware and completely adulating break down of what makes Peter Parker / Miles Morales / Peter Porker such an essential part of the superhero canon. I watched it a little hungover today and it's made me feel right as rain.
