Incredibly directed, incredible acting. It’s one of those rare movies that I’ve watched where every shot is something more than what I’m used to in a movie and it is done without surrendering the story. There is something special about how this movie conveys the human effects of slavery in the ways the enslaved people carry themselves and act around the slavery complex. I didn’t know the score would be so grand as to make you feel it in your stomach. This was an exciting film experience, I’m pretty annoyed I didn’t get a chance to even be aware of the book back in the days when I was a student.
