I left the theater speechless and full of anxiety. Quite an education on an important time in our history that was incredibly acted and put together.
This film feels very chaotic in the beginning, and slowly increases speed and momentum and in a sudden moment, slows down to deal with the consequences of creating nuclear deterrence.
Cillian Murphy provides a chilling performance as Oppenheimer who can see the conflict within himself once the bomb goes off.
The cinematic choices in this were done with careful thought when it came to the perspective of characters and their thought processes and it all came to making sense by the end of the film.
I didn’t really get the “horror” aspect of the movie until after the climax. And a lot of it came of Cillian Murphy’s perfect blank stare. I had so much anxiety that I felt extremely uneasy and my hands were sweating. And I don’t think any horror movie in the genre ever made me feel like that.
Other than the runtime and oddly paced quick editing choices, I’d say Nolan knocked it out of the park.
