]]>Marco - Redefining Violence in Indian Cinema
As a fan of slasher and violent films, I’ve watched countless movies in this genre and always wondered how Indian cinema would approach such intense storytelling. Malayalam cinema, in particular, has consistently delivered exceptional and brutally violent films, setting a standard for how such stories should be told.
Marco stands as a new benchmark in this realm, showcasing violence at its extreme. While I’ve seen darker depictions across various languages, Marco stands out for its raw execution and impact.
The movie has a simple, predictable storyline, but this doesn’t detract from the viewing experience. The first half, though relatively straightforward with a focus on character development, sets the stage effectively. The dialogues in this segment are mostly average, though a few stand out with flair.
Unni Mukundan shines as Marco, bringing an electrifying and massy screen presence. His performance cements him as a rising star, and this film undoubtedly marks a turning point in his career.
Director Haneef Adeni delivers an impressive work with Marco, surpassing expectations despite my reservations about his earlier films. Ravi Basrur’s music is a standout element, with a phenomenal background score that heightens the film’s tension and elevates the villain’s menace. While the songs are passable, the score truly steals the show. Chandru Selvaraj’s cinematography is exceptional, especially during the interval block, which is visually stunning. The action choreography by Kalai Kingson deserves special mention for its intensity and precision.
Jagadeesh, Siddique, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Abhimanyu Thilakan delivered excellent performances.
The film excels technically and stands out for its violent action sequences, offering a gripping and unforgettable cinematic experience. The second half, in particular, delivers a relentless onslaught of violence, leaving audiences stunned.
Verdict: Blood-Showered Theatre Experience

]]>Watching for the nth time
The most rewatched Allu Arjun movie!
Pushpa 2 : The Rise
After hearing a lot of negative reviews, I had low expectations for Pushpa 2. However, after watching it, I found the movie to be an average experience. The film has a strong opening, and the first half is engaging. That said, there are issues with the characterization of Rashmika and Fahad.
The first half maintains the same vibe as Pushpa 1, which I found enjoyable. The second half starts off decently, but the last 40 minutes take a drastic turn, marked by poor writing from Sukumar and a disappointing background score. This shift turns what was a mass entertainer into something resembling a soap opera, undoing the solid buildup of the first 160 minutes.
Allu Arjun excels as Pushpa Raj throughout most of the movie but falters in the climax portions.
Despite its flaws, I still think Pushpa 2 is worth watching in theatre.

I honestly don’t even know how to review this film. From the moment the title was announced, I sensed trouble—especially with “Siva” as the director. The motion poster was decent, but the song updates were outright disappointing. The trailer gave a glimmer of hope, but after watching the movie, I’m left speechless.
I’m genuinely glad I saved ₹200 on a movie ticket, as I prefer watching films in theatres. But even if I got a free ticket, I wouldn’t have gone for this one. Writing this much about the movie feels like a chore, but what else can I say?
The first 30 minutes were some of the worst I’ve experienced this year—every second and frame tested my patience. I’ve watched plenty of bad films, but at least they had something interesting to hold onto. This movie felt like a black hole—completely empty.
The first 30 minutes, oh my God! Suriya, whose films I usually enjoy, made me dislike him here. Paired with Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, and Redin Kingsley, the annoyance was unbearable. Rockstar DSP completely dropped the ball with one of the worst soundtracks for a film I’ve heard.
The movie had zero emotional connection, zero technical quality, and some of the worst VFX I’ve seen. Even the editing was a disaster—apologies to Nishad Yusuf; may his soul rest in peace.
I don’t want to write more about this. Simply put, it’s the worst movie of 2024.

]]>Surprisingly, this turned out to be my favorite Tamil movie of the year! It’s been a while since it released on OTT, and now I deeply regret not watching it on the big screen.
Tamizharasan Pachamuthu has done an excellent job. While the story is predictable, the gripping screenplay ensures there’s no dull moment.
Harish Kalyan shines as Anbu with a solid performance, but it’s Attakathi Dinesh as Gethu who truly steals the show. His expressions and the depth he brings to the character are outstanding. Swasika and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy (as Divya) also deliver commendable performances.
Sean Roldan never disappoints—his unique musical style perfectly complements the film, amplifying its emotions beautifully.
I absolutely loved this movie!

One Word - Masterpiece By Pothettan
]]>My favorite LJP movie!
This film introduced several new talents to Malayalam cinema, and most of them delivered stellar performances. It also gave us the iconic punch master, Pepe.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched this masterpiece. The songs, background score, and fight sequences are absolute bangers.
This movie even turned me into a fan of pork 😌.
My love for food and Angamaly Diaries will never fade!
What an incredible movie—something I’ve never experienced before in Malayalam cinema! The characters were brilliantly designed, the situations and settings were so engaging, and the technical team absolutely nailed it. They all deserve a standing ovation.
And oh my God, the character Blacky had me laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣.
This one is definitely staying on my all-time favorite movie list!
]]>This is one of my favorite LJP movies—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve rewatched this masterpiece. The way it beautifully portrays a group of grey shade characters, blending profanity and violence, is simply brilliant.
Joju George’s character is absolutely hilarious, adding another layer of charm to the film. Watching this movie feels like an addictive trip—it’s intoxicating and mesmerizing.

]]>Hello Mummy
The first half of the movie shines with solid character development and enjoyable moments, but the second half feels average, with a bland climax that lacks impactful high points. It also hints at a sequel, which raises the question: why does Malayalam cinema often lean toward making second parts?*
Sharafudheen delivers a performance reminiscent of vintage Dileep, showcasing his slapstick comedy timing. While the first half includes comedic scenes, many of them didn’t land for me—I’m not sure why.
Why does it feel like Aishwarya Lekshmi has lost some of her charm and energy?
Jakes Bejoy’s music is decent, and Chamman Chacko impresses once again with his crisp editing. The VFX work in the movie is another highlight that I genuinely appreciated.
Overall, the film isn’t a disappointment, but the second half feels underwhelming.
Verdict: A one-time watch.
P.S. Please, no unnecessary sequels!

]]>A typical mass-action film, The movie has great potential, with a storyline that feels somewhat inspired by Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman, and several scenes resembling those from their movies. The first half is decent, but the climax is extremely disappointing—it lacks high moments or impactful elements.
As for the VFX during the train sequences in Tamil Nadu, it feels completely unrealistic, almost as if it’s set in a parallel universe.

Verdict: A one-time watch.

This movie offers a strong screenplay, much like Kishkindha Kaandam. It’s an impressive film with a good first half and an exceptional second half, directed skillfully by MC. Nazriya delivers a fantastic comeback and truly steals the spotlight. Basil is outstanding in his nuanced, grey-shaded role, capturing it perfectly as he did in Jaya Jaya Jaya He. Sidharth Bharathan’s character arc, filled with dark humor, was also a highlight.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, with special appreciation for Chamman Chacko’s sharp editing and Christo Xavier’s outstanding music.
Verdict: A highly recommended theater watch.

]]>I’m usually not a fan of war action movies because they can be predictable from start to finish, but I really enjoyed this one, even with its 170-minute runtime. Some of the romantic scenes felt a bit cringey—love scenes often do. The action sequences were well done, and Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi both gave strong performances, although Sai Pallavi seemed to overdo it in a few scenes. GV Prakash delivered a great background score and songs, and the direction was solid. Overall, this is a must-watch Tamil war action movie.

Overall, I felt it was an Ok film. Some scenes felt mediocre, but I really enjoyed the bonding between the four friends, and the scenes worked well for me. The music by Christy Joby was good, and Chaman Chakko’s editing was also solid. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Hridhu Haroon delivered strong performances. The climax felt a bit underwhelming to me.
Verdict : Above Average
