The first time I’ve had a guttural nauseating reaction this strong to a film in a long time (maybe ever).
There’s a few scenes that are so deeply unsettling but also so mesmerizing I couldn’t look away. I’m sure some people will come out of this movie thinking it’s numbness schlocky insanity for the sake of shock and awe (many people while watching seemed vocally annoyed) but I can assure you, at least for me, that’s not what is going on at all.
Even now as I’m writing I feel something in my gut…I loved We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, but Schoenbrun can absolutely fucking COOK with a budget.
