Now that the hot takes and instantly dismissive reviews have slipped into the digital ether, it's time to recognize this as the masterpiece it is. For all of Nolan's films, I think this will be the test of time. As well, it's the film that started the (probably misguided) belief that Christopher Nolan will one day be seen like John Ford is today. I think that McConaughey could be his Wayne, though I'm afraid they won't work together again. McConaughey is a big reason why this film was deemed so much less "cold" than other Nolan films were by viewers. It's impossible, I think, for McConaughey to be anything less than a warm presence while on screen, even in the cold distances of space.
Also, no one says "dirt" or "stars" quite like McConaughey.
