Is it stupid? Yes. But I'll tell you what, it's a hell of a lot more fun than the original. Maybe it's just the effect of watching it in the cinema with some mates who burst into laughter with every corny line and brutal kill, but I really enjoyed this one in a way that the first could only dream of.
While I know speaking ill of John Carpenter is heresy (I've never understood the appeal behind him), this movie is just directed with more energy, so that despite the story being the standard slasher stuff, it feels more eventful and engaging to watch unfold. Michael Myers continues to be one of the lamest villains I have ever seen, and not even Jamie Lee Curtis is all that great, but the characters are so despicable that their deaths are delightful to witness.
