I know this is a boring criticism that I give almost every genre director I don’t love, but here it is again:
The heightened moments of genre style are awesome, but you haven’t sucked me into the story. Argento’s scenework feels very staged to me, made more evident by some questionable performances, but that also means there’s a theatricality that does sometimes work. I just can’t get onboard with the story.
