Drive Away Dolls is an easy breezy, albeit slight, lesbian buddy crime road-trip comedy. It thrives on the charming chemistry between Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan's odd-couple performances, with a surprising array of cameos adding to the fun by fully embracing the film's pretty ridiculous premise. However, the film's style and tone often feel inconsistent, with some editorial transitions drawing undue attention, and a notable lack of music throughout. Ultimately, while it does provide a perfectly fine ride, Drive Away Dolls plays it too safe in every aspect of its writing and production, never managing to kick into a higher gear.
