Great practical effects and very much a beautiful display of blood galore in the final act. However, I have to say, I got a little lost in what the messaging had to say and how it was delivered.
Understandably, the ageist viewpoint aimed at women in today's society is cruel and unforgiving and the standards set work to eliminate any form of healthy perspective of self-image and self-worth. I did catch the ideas at work but they got diminished around the second and third act and became repetitive after a while.
For a runtime of the size, I have to say it could've been shortened, tightened and more fleshing out of the concept in regards to the oneness the two main protagonists share, their motivations and overall the worldbuilding could have been handled better.
As for the performances, Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid give remarkable and committed performances in their respectable characters. Even in Qualley's Sue and Moore's Elizabeth I felt a mixture of comedy, camp and overall nauseousness right up to the end. What's so unforgiving is Dennis Quaid using the bathroom, not washing his hands and eating shrimp right after, I'll forever be repulsed at such an act. Great performances.
As for the body horror chaos presented, I enjoyed it especially in the end with the Kafkaesque reference of the Monstro ElizaSue. Cronenberg would be proud.
