I can’t say I’m not entertained by this movie, but it is extremely dumb and undercooked. Nothing in this makes sense…Eddie/Venom goes on a quest for literally no other reason than they were inspired to at the bar. Meanwhile, Knull’s henchmen and guys from the actual Area 51 are after them. Knull is a bit disappointing, he barely appears and is just sitting in his throne in his limited amount of screen time. No interactions with Venom. And what is the final battle feels like the end of the second act, as if it’s gearing up for an epic third act showdown, perhaps between Venom and Knull. But nope, Knull’s nameless, nonspeaking goons. Change the final scene slightly and this movie feels like a Part 1 to a Part 2 that would be the real last Venom movie. I get it’s supposed to be “self-aware” but I don’t know if the last scene is supposed to be cheesy or emotional or both. Cause I was laughing when I realized what I was hearing. Juno Temple’s character is so silly…the way her origins tie into her later role is just unnecessary. It does have some really cool symbiote action though. And after seeing the trailer, it looked like this would be retconning the mid-credits scene of No Way Home but I’m glad to say it doesn’t. Probably the worst Venom.
