Though it struggles to keep the tension during the middle act, it’s very suspenseful in the beginning and satisfying in the end (yet a bit confusing). Carla Gugino gives a great performance. Its cinematography is really striking and Mike Flanagan directs the movie strongly. Usually when I’ve heard of particularly graphic scenes in movies/shows, they’re overhyped but THAT scene was hard to watch. And no way that was the easiest way to make that happen.
