“you’ll see a lot of strange things from now on.”

for every boy and girl: gin, a flower, and a song. just miraculous, such a staggeringly empathetic and life-affirming film that only manages to reach that high because of how truly low it’s willing to go. every beat that focuses on this community and the love and care that it shares feels as if it’s about to fall into mawkish and melodramatic territory at nearly every turn, and yet it instead accumulates into one of the most magical things of all: the will to live. very likely the best christmas film, but you already knew that.
