There’s something devilishly haunting about targeting someone’s fears and moulding them into a nightmarish event. Part of what Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark does so well is it’s focus on the inherent terrors of the individuals. Moments of horror are so realistic because the character is feeling this emotion to the maximum, screaming for their life at the thing they hate most. Stories writing themselves are instantaneous fuels of nightmares, the imminent nature gives a wild sense of anticipation. The story is creepy, but verges on the boundary of being too supernatural. Some moments felt a little too forced, albeit the overall experience is thoroughly eerie.
