Absolutely stunning. I'm rather forthcoming in my suggestion that La La Land is one of those films that I could revisit every week. Joyful and uplifting visuals ebb and flow their way through the film. Chazelle directs with the utmost precision, the camera glides effortlessly through scenes. Unlike Whiplash, camera movements tend to be more fluid - the music in La La Land is better suited to a more free flowing aura. Electing to utilise tracking shots to present musical sequences only solidified Chazelle’s esteemed directing style - his visionary outlook is defined and grounded here. Images transcend into blissful sentiment. Colours give so much life to scenes; there’s such rapturous delight behind every artistic decision. Its passionate filmmaking at its finest; the dances are wonderfully executed and the songs are beautiful. In particular, the use of motifs really highlights a rawness to Mia and Seb's relationship. It's new and exciting and Chazelle's directorial vision captures so many emotions with ease. La La Land leaves you with a massive smile and your face - and I'm more than happy to let it do just that.
