Wow, I fucking loved this and I'm not just saying that because I got a drink at the bar called "Furiosa" that had a lot of whiskey in it.
George Miller is a feminist: I knew this when I watched Fury Road, but it's even more apparent in this film. There's a moment where the old wisdomic man says to young Furiosa, "You have to make yourself invaluable to them." This is true today: Women must be superb or invaluable to the man in order to be taken seriously. Women must be exceptional. I think about this with Joan of Arc sometimes, how she must have been a saint in order to do what she did. But Furiosa is human. She feels anger and hate, but also love. I adored the love story baked into this--it was so beautiful. He gave her her freedom but she chose him. Fuck Dr. Dementus!! Although Chris Hemsworth in this is stupid hot. Crazy that he could've been doing cool shit like this all along but was trapped as Th*r. He's excellent in this film.
If you liked Fury Road you'll love this. Less visual effects but still just as stunning. He's really trying to tell a story and maybe he's doing a little too much but it's good, soo good. I loved the opening with her mother--ehat a badass. This is a film about womanhood, and how an undertold facet of it is anger. I'm furious for Furiosa. Let's all kill men together.
