90%🔋 An absolute masterclass in art direction, sound design and scoring. I mean I remember loving this film but I forgot truly how spectacular it is. It’s as if a drop of acid fell into this films dna and the end product is a pure hypnotic delight that will leave you in a daze, it’s also chock full of substance.
As a rewatch review i really am just keeping it to the crafts and a few bits I enjoyed but most certainly the art depart and team truly unleashed their talents to create a uniquely gorgeous almost alien like animation.
Truly demolishing the notion that it’s a genre when it’s clearly a medium, one that can be used in various ways. They did that here.
The comedy was also quite strong, the jokes weren’t forced at all assuring laughter. The comic book motifs throughout were a plus and I absolutely loved the villains in this, of course I love the Spideys but Liv Octavius and her design was on stun, Prowler was frightening in large part to his theme which is amazing, and Kingpin is also quite a formidable juggernaut.
Overall I saw this as a refresher before my viewing of Across The Spiderverse later today. It’s still a knockout and and I’m stoked for 5:30 to roll around!
