Wow. What an amazing movie. My favorite superhero movie of all time, if I’m being honest. Everything is pretty much… perfect. I don’t say this lightly, either.
Groundbreaking animation, great writing, amazing music, PHENOMENAL character work and parallels. The best onscreen version of Peter Parker and a textbook example of how to do a broken hero right. Turned Miles Morales into a household name, which it’s very clear they put a lot of work into making him his own unique character rather than a Peter Parker rehash, while still maintaining the fundamental aspects that make Spider-Man what he is.
On this topic, the movie manages to be an amazing modernization of the classic Spider-Man mythos, especially surrounding all the circumstances behind the origin and the death of the uncle. Aaron is a fresh take on Spider-Man’s role model (with a FANTASTIC plot twist behind it) and a welcome addition to this movie. Miles’ relationship with his father is a deeply relatable one, and all his relationships build up and culminate into the BEAUTIFUL and iconic “Leap of Faith” scene (the best scene in any superhero movie, by the way).
5 stars, damn near flawless, watch this movie. If you have, watch it again!!
