Mandy(Nicolas Cage Fan Nr.1🏳️⚧️) nicolas kim coppola’s review published on Letterboxd:
Longlegs.......
From the day we got the trailer i was hyped for this movie.
Like...SUPER FUCKING HYPED.
The marketing was my favorite part of the whole experience and deciphering letters from the website,it was honestly really magical because i have never seen another movie do such a thing.
The movie it self lives up to the hype.
While i don't think im the person to be afraid of a horror movie,it did have a little bit of a unhinged feel to it,helped by both of the excellent performances by maika monroe and nicolas cage.
I was sorta sceptical since while osgood perkins is great at directing, his characters and scripts in his previous movies where lackluster but on the other hand i saw that he got better and better because each new movie that he released got better and better reception.
Longlegs continue's that trend and is far better then his previous movie.
Now the movie itself is amazing,i already told you the performances of both main actor/actress are great, the rest of the cast are not bad either, actually great.
I think the sound design, cinematography is the best thing in it.
The music elevates the creepy scenes even more.
The story is really good but i can see why people don't like it,honestly i expected way more kills in the movie.
But then you have nicolas cage as longlegs, the marketing did a great job at hiding him and well.....he's not in it for long but the time he does have he gives one of if not his best performances in his entire career, shit he doesn't even LOOK like nicolas cage and thats awesome.
The interagation scene is the best scene in the entire movie.
The twist i didn't see coming,it was amazing.
Also for all the people dissapointed....i get it,they we're telling you this is one of the greatest horror movies of the decade, raising allot of people's expectations and while allot of people's expectations we're met....not all did and i completely understand.
Anyway i say,it is one of the best horror movies of this decade and one of my favorites.
Nic cage works and is made for horror.
